Analyst Offer Details On New Nintendo Console Release, Switch Pro, Blockchain-Based Games – International Business Times

The next-generation Nintendo gaming console could reportedly release in a couple of years from now with major upgrades, according to an analyst. He also believes that the Nintendo Switch console family would beat other gaming systems this year in terms of sales and blockchain-based titles would cool down in H2 2022.
Nintendo introduced the hybrid gaming console Nintendo Switch in 2017 and while the company has released several successors, the original model is far behind in tech and features compared to the PS5 from Sony and the Xbox Series x and Xbox Series S from Microsoft’s Xbox. While it is true that Nintendo has introduced the new Switch OLED, fans are eager to know more about the next piece of gaming system that Nintendo will introduce.
Interestingly, Ampere analyst Piers Harding-Rolls estimated that the Japanese gaming giant would roll out a new gaming system in 2024, which is just a couple of years from now.
“We have a next-gen Nintendo console in our forecasts for late 2024, so I’m not convinced a ‘Pro’ model is going to appear at all,” he told GamesIndustry.biz.

The analyst also killed the hopes of some fans when he claimed he is not expecting the heavily rumored Nintendo Switch Pro to surface this year. “I’m not expecting a Switch Pro in 2022. We have a next-gen Nintendo console in our forecasts for late 2024, so I’m not convinced a ‘Pro’ model is going to appear at all,” he mentioned.
Harding-rolls also believe Sony’s new generation gaming console PS5 will outsell the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S by 28 million. But, both console makers will be supply-restricted with improved supply flow over the year.
Apparently, this year, the Nintendo Switch family of devices will dominate the sales with around 21 million units sold to consumers, of which the Nintendo Switch OLED will play a big role, the analyst suggested. Harding-Rolls also predicted that blockchain gaming will slowly cool down in the second half of the year.
“But questions remain over the sustainability of play-to-earn games and the ongoing value of in-game NFTs against a backdrop of zero or minimal interoperability. With lots of titles flooding the market it’s inevitable that many will underperform commercially. While funding for blockchain gaming companies is currently hot and valuations are high, with many existing companies pivoting into this space, I expect the situation to cool down in the second half of 2022,” Harding-Rolls told the outlet.
It is worth noting that analyst Piers Harding-Rolls made these predictions and last year, most of his projections were spot on.
